Sometimes, at the start of the winter season, your heating system may not work properly and, in order for it to heat properly, efficiently and safely, it is important to check the equipment and the installation to ensure that everything is in perfect working order. Current regulations require annual inspections of boilers that must be carried out by qualified technicians, but there are actions that can be carried out by the User without much difficulty.

One of the main reasons why a boiler may not work properly is kenya phone number library due to a lack of water in the circuit, either because some type of repair has been carried out, because we have a water leak or simply because the radiators have been bled.

In this BAXI article we explain how to solve it.

Identifying the filling key of a boiler

The first thing we need to do is take into account the type of boiler we have. If it is a mixed type (it produces hot water and heating on its own) we should check the boiler manual and find the section that explains where to find the filling valve and how to refill the system to restore the water pressure.

In the case of heating-only boilers (with or without a hot water accumulator), it is very possible that this key is located outside the boiler and we will have to locate it in the installation.

Filling key for mixed boilers

The pressure gauge should be checked periodically to see what the boiler pressure is. If we see that the pressure drops below 1.5 bar, it is time to refill the accumulator. All combination boilers have a filling valve, which is usually located under the boiler.

We must open the filling valve until we see on the pressure gauge that the pressure is above 1.5 bar, and once the pressure is reached we close the valve completely again.

Once this step has been completed, it is time to check that no errors are displayed on the boiler screen and to verify that it is working correctly.

What can the user find when completing the circuit?

In some cases, when trying to open the filling valve to add more pressure to the circuit, it may become blocked. This may be due to a build-up of lime or dirt. In these cases, it is important not to force the filling valve to avoid breaking it. In extreme cases, if it is not possible to unblock the valve, you will have to contact the Technical Service.
