Guest Writer: This week, you will read the article SEO Pricing: 600+ Agencies Share Costs of Services & Pricing Models, edited by Aykut Aslantaş , one of Turkey's respected SEO experts, and published by our partner SEOmoz .

In this article, you will be able to see the reflection of SEO pricing, which is determined entirely as a result of individual decisions in Turkey, abroad. In this article, which we hope will be a model for Turkey, you can examine the details of regionally changing prices and working models. We would also like to thank our friend Rand Fishkin , founder of SEOmoz, for this article.

We conducted a survey on this blog in late December 2011, asking agencies and consultants of all sizes to share their pricing models and cost structures. I’d like to share our results in the hope that it will provide everyone in the search industry with a better understanding of pricing and services offered. Of course, our data isn’t perfect – SEOmoz is not a professional data mining firm, and our only tool for this is a simple questionnaire found on SurveyMonkey. However, I would be surprised if a professional researcher came up with very different data. Because there were enough respondents and companies that provided personal/contact information (I noticed many of them when I reviewed the responses, but I won’t make their identities public, of course) to be able to come to a reliable conclusion, which probably means we weren’t specifically looking for misleading/deceptive information. Below you can find our data in three different formats – the first is some of my personal key takeaways from the survey, the next is an infographic from AYTM Market Research, and the last is a breakdown of the responses in CSV and Excel formats (they do not include any personally identifiable information). ( We see hourly rates in AYTM’s infographic .) However, I would like to point out that although we received over 600 responses, we have selected the regions with more than 10 responses ( 490 responses in total ) and shared that data. These regions are as follows:

USA – 287 responses
United Kingdom – 76 responses
Canada – 34 responses
Australia/ New Zealand – 28 responses
Germany/ France/ Italy/ Netherlands – 34 responses
India – 31 responses
In many countries, one in three firms responded, but while we appreciate their contributions, we believe it would be misleading/inefficient to share this data as a single firm/consultant could skew the results. All the information in this blog post, infographic and Excel data dump is divided into 6 regions.

Top 9 Results
These are my personal conclusions from the data:

1. Hourly SEO Costs Vary from Country to Country, but cash app database the Most Common is $76-$200 Per Hour
Excluding India (the only developing region in our study), hourly costs of $76-$200 (representing three regions) are common for 50% or more of all companies. The highest rate is for Australia/New Zealand at 62%, followed by the US at 58.1% and Canada at 56%. Yes, this is a very wide range, but it may be a satisfactory answer to one of the questions most frequently asked by those seeking SEO services for the first time.

2. The Most Popular Method is Project Based Pricing and the Most Common Fees are $1,000-$7,500
70.1% of respondents indicated that they charge on a per-project basis (the survey found that this was the most common method). 43% of consultancies gave four specific price ranges: $1,001-$1,500, $1,501-$2,500, $2,501-$5,000, and $5,001-$7,500. Such a wide range of fees is a natural consequence, considering that the projects presented can vary greatly from one another.

3. Most Frequently Asked Question Monthly Power of Attorney Fee
While there is a wide range of both hourly and project-based compensation rates, the most common questions asked in our survey were about monthly retainer rates. The most common were $251-$500 per month (13.8%) and $2,501-$5,000 (11.3%).

4. The Demise of Applied SEO Has Been Overhyped
There are many bloggers and SEO clients who have had a hard time over the last few years complaining that consulting firms do not provide enough “hands-on” help. However, according to the survey, 88.5% of respondents said they provide “hands-on SEO changes to sites” and 79.1% said they provide “hands-on link building”. It seems that hand-on help is still very popular.

5. Inbound/ Organic > Pure SEO
Pure “SEO” consultants/agencies may be falling behind as more and more firms offer more comprehensive “inbound marketing” services. The data shows that 150% (25%) of respondents say they focus primarily on SEO, while 160% (26.7%) offer more comprehensive services.

6. Web Design/Development Agencies Are Very Intertwined with SEO
The third most popular choice among respondents was a web design/development agency offering SEO services. In the UK, these types of firms are better placed than both SEO-focused services and more comprehensive inbound/organic firms.

7. Employees: Customers/ Monthly Rate Between 1-2
In the screenshot below, I was able to examine the number of monthly active clients analyzed by the consulting firm’s staff because the crosstab feature in SurveyMonkey was used (you can only select 5 responses at a time, but the data is still informative).
