We have seen how to create our list of keywords with the help of the tools and applications that Google offers us: KeyWord Planner, Trends, Instant and Suggest.

But, as we have seen, with the help of some of these tools, such as Google KeyWord Planner and Google Trends, we can also investigate their viability to choose the most effective of all those we have included in our list.

If we use KeyWord Planner, we should look at search volume and competition.

A keyword with a high search volume means that many people are searching for it.

Normally, this keyword will be very competitive usa mobile phone numbers database since the most searched terms tend to be the most general and those with the greatest competition.

“Cooking classes” is considered, for example, a more general term while “Asian cooking classes in Madrid” is considered a 'long tail' term .

This last option will probably have a lower search volume but we will be able to position our page more easily through long tail keywords , since the search traffic is lower but much more specific and, normally, less competitive.

In this way, when evaluating the keywords that we will choose for the strategy of the website that we want to position, we should not be fooled by those with the highest search volume, but by those that we consider to be more effective.

Suddenly positioning a cooking course website in Madrid for the keyword “cooking courses” can be very expensive and frustrating, however, doing so through Asian cooking courses in Madrid would be much more effective, since, although the search volume is reduced to a fifth, that traffic will be more precise and effective and the term does not have such high competition.

Therefore, with Keyword Planner we can obtain information about search volume and competition to accept and reject different terms according to our interests.
