If there is one sector that is clearly betting on the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) , it is undoubtedly the automotive industry. The main manufacturers have embarked on a dizzying race to incorporate the possibilities that connectivity offers to cars and not leave the development of technologies that promise to revolutionize the way in which drivers interact with the car and the road in the hands of newcomers (read Tesla or Apple ).
Thus, what began timidly with fusion data integrated GPS or parking assistance sensors has given way to complex multimedia systems in which not only does each utility vehicle come with a router and wireless connection as standard, but the vehicle itself connects directly through our smartphone to a series of applications that have to do with driving, such as everything related to the weather, traffic forecasts on our route, the best parking area or remote connection to the office or home.
The second part of this technological revolution is that the possibilities of connectivity, combined with Big Data and the “intelligent” accumulation and cross-referencing of data, are making possible the old dream that our car – in the manner of the mythical KITT from “Knight Rider” – will be able to drive autonomously, without anyone at the wheel. Although at the moment this is still in the testing phase, brands such as Mercedes are already incorporating systems such as Intelligent Drive into their current models, which allows our car to park itself or with the help of a smartphone, as well as to travel short distances without the help of the driver in the so-called “exploration mode”.

All this technology is therefore already fully established in today's vehicles and, what is more interesting, not only for the new car market. In fact, today it is possible to purchase models with the aforementioned Mercedes technology at Km 0 , that is, with very little registration time and at a much cheaper price than these cars have when they first leave the dealership. This is undoubtedly a way of saving costs on a type of technology that we are all beginning to demand, even more so if we work as entrepreneurs, an environment in which we increasingly need to be more and better connected.
