A newsletter informs or sells. Depending on what goal you want to achieve, you need to prepare the right content for your customers. Remember that a newsletter consists of:
broadcasters,
title,
preheader,
lead,
the "basic" part,
"special actions",
unsubscribe option.
And absolutely everything matters. Let's discuss each point briefly.
Sender – known. But is it really? Usually, this is a neglected element that sabotages your profits. The sender of the message should not be "Jan Kowalski" or [email protected] , and this is usually how it looks. Avoid entering a sender that will not tell your customer anything. "Sklep z poduszkimi" looks much better, and "Paweł z sklep rowerarskiego" will work even better.
Title – you could write a few books on telecommunication industry in israel this topic. But since we have a little less space, we will focus on the most important things. Most studies and tests indicate that the subject must be short, attractive, but should be “on topic”. So-called “clickbait” (text that encourages reading by being provocative) will make more people click on the email, but they will be discouraged from reading it more quickly. In addition, you risk that readers will get offended by you. Write on topic.
Preheader – something after the title and before the email content. Some email applications (e.g. the most popular Gmail) show the first few words of the email content… or the preheader. So before the customer clicks on your email, you can give them an extra incentive.
Lead – this is the content of an email, but the content that determines its future. Lead (read: lid) is the text equivalent of a presentation, in which you have to make a good impression. If your lead is interesting, relevant and short, you have a chance to encourage busy and busy readers to read on. And if you bore them in 10 seconds… Oh well.
The main part – the name is as good as any other. It is simply the part where you convey the most content. Maybe it is a presentation of new products, maybe an incentive to sign up for your cooking course, maybe information about a new blog post, or maybe just photos of clothes from the current collection.
Special actions – we have highlighted them only to draw your attention to an important fact. If you send messages informing about something, you are not really trying to get recipients to reply to this message. However, if you send a sales email, it must contain at least one CTA, i.e. a call to action. For example, "reply to this message", "call us" or "click on this link". A sales text without a well-thought-out CTA is simply a waste of time.
Unsubscribe option – a necessity for several years in the case of mass mailings. Every recipient of your emails must have the right and real possibility to unsubscribe from the newsletter. Sure, you can do it manually at the request of the respondent. But it is better to rely on automation. Today, probably every system used for mass mailings allows for easy insertion of a link with the words "Unsubscribe", and every reader must understand how to unsubscribe from the newsletter.
Finally, let's mention one more important feature of a newsletter. This is a higher school of mailing, but we hope it will work for you too. Is the newsletter free? Of course it is! Right? Well... not necessarily. Almost 100% of all newsletters are free. It's either advertising or knowledge that you get for free. However, there is a growing group of high-class specialists who can sell their knowledge in the form of a paid newsletter. It often contains advanced knowledge that either cannot be obtained on the Internet or is time-consuming to obtain. As you can see, a newsletter can become a completely independent source of profit.
So many possibilities in one underrated marketing tool! Remember that a good newsletter works mostly automatically, and a very good one takes you less and less time and gives you more and more profit. It is usually your only opportunity to talk to customers, so take care of a good base and build a process that really earns money.
