1. Choose a WordPress popup plugin
Start by selecting a popup builder plugin for WordPress from the list above. OptiMonk is one of the best popup plugins out there and it offers a free plan.
2. Install and activate the plugin
Go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to “Plugins,” and click on “Add New.” Search for the chosen popup plugin (i.e. OptiMonk), install it, and then activate it.
3. Configure general settings
After activation has been completed successfully, you’ll find the OptiMonk plugin in the list of Installed Plugins.
The next step is to copy your OptiMonk ID. To find this, log in to your OptiMonk account or register one if you don’t have any.
Upon successful login, your mobile number data list OptiMonk ID will be readily visible within the URL of the OptiMonk app. Now go back to the WordPress admin page, navigate to Appearance on the left and select OptiMonk. Insert your OptiMonk ID Number into your OptiMonk WordPress Plugin.

4. Create a new popup
Once the general settings are configured, create a new popup.
Choose a template that suits your needs from our template library and customize the design of your exit-intent popup in the drag & drop editor to align with your website’s branding.
5. Set triggering & targeting rules
Look for the exit-intent trigger option in the plugin settings. This is the crucial step to ensure the popup appears when a user is about to leave your site.
